z/OS Concepts & Facilities

DESCRIPTION: This course provides the student with practical knowledge of OS/390 concepts and explains the terms used within the OS/390 environment. The student is introduced to the facilities available in OS/390 and functions these facilities provide. Major OS/390 enhancements are also discussed.

PREREQUISITES: Knowledge of IBM DP fundamentals. Prior understanding of at least one operating system would be helpful. Reading the IBM manual "OS/390 Overview" is recommended. Students will benefit by bringing a listing of their SYS1.PARMLIB and JES2 startup parameters and JES3 initialization parameters to class.
